Jethro is a little pony who feels useless, because all the other horses at Peter's Pony Farm are ridden every day, but no one wants to ride him. The other animals, Chicken, Lamb and Cow, all tell him that he is special, but Jethro disagrees and has little self-esteem. Until one day, a little neighbour girl named Jennifer starts to visit him. Peter, the owner of the pony farm, asks if she wants to ride Jethro, and he finally gets ridden! Then other children want to ride Jethro too and he realises that he is special after all. The idea for this story came when co-author Glynis Bloomfield saw a pony on a cold, wet day looking sad and alone in a paddock. After her granddaughter, Tiana Torres-Thomas, visited a pony farm, You ARE Special, Jethro! was born. This is Tiana's first book and Glynis' fifth book. Glynis Bloomfield and Tiana Torres-Thomas live about 4,000 kilometres away from each other in Australia. Glynis lives and teaches in a remote indigenous community in the Northern Territory, while Tiana is a primary school student in Melbourne. Tiana helped her grandmother write this story and as well she drew the main characters and helped make the collage pictures. Glynis has been a teacher for twenty-seven years, has three adult children, and ten grandchildren. As a teacher, she believes in storytelling and the importance of imagination in learning. 'My brother gets extra help from a special teacher. He has temper tantrums when he is angry and sometimes finds it hard to pay attention. He has even been to a special school to learn how to behave appropriately in class. He might be a little different from others in some ways ... but my brother is NOT STUPID!' This book offers a fun and accessible introduction for the sibling of a child diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome (AS). Intended as a support tool in the initial period after diagnosis, You Are Special Too is varied and engaging, and addresses questions or concerns that the child might have, such as 'What's wrong with my brother?', 'Why has my sister got Asperger', and 'What about me?'. Also included are poems, stories, illustration and activities to help them come to terms with and move forward from a sibling's diagnosis of AS. You Are Special Too will be essential reading for children in the initial period after a sibling's diagnosis of AS.

This book was written to encourage every "special parent" who is carrying or has carried the weight of rearing a child or children - seemingly - alone. Whether your challenge relates to your child or children, finances, a relationship or the lack thereof, your career or educational dreams, or all of the above, this book was written for you. May each chapter leave you with every reason to "bee" encouraged, confident in this very thing - "you are special to, not forsaken by, God." Pregnant at 14, Dianne was quickly counted out by man. Add to her "charges" a second child at 18, welfare, the projects, a divorce, and overwhelming debt. Surely by man's standards she would never amount to anything. "Impossible" is what many thought - and said. BUT GOD! has turned Dianne's mess into a message of hope with evidence of His love and the unlimited possibilities in Him. Dianne graduated (pregnant) with her high school class - with honors - and has since earned four degrees including a Master's in Educational Leadership and a Doctorate in Biblical Studies. She is CEO of her own corporation and living single in Biloxi, Mississippi, with a testimony that God will keep those who want to be kept. Dianne's message is practical with the aim to encourage hearts with the truth that what God is doing for her, He can do for another - that and much more!
