Son of Hamas Book Description :

Son of Hamas is now available in softcover with an all-new chapter about events since the book’s release such as the revelation of Mosab’s Israeli intelligence handler’s true identity, and Homeland Security’s effort to deport the author. Since he was a small boy, Mosab Hassan Yousef has had an inside view of the deadly terrorist group Hamas. The oldest son of Sheikh Hassan Yousef, a founding member of Hamas and its most popular leader, young Mosab assisted his father for years in his political activities while being groomed to assume his legacy, politics, status . . . and power. But everything changed when Mosab turned away from terror and violence, and embraced instead the teachings of another famous Middle East leader. In Son of Hamas, Mosab reveals new information about the world’s most dangerous terrorist organization and unveils the truth about his own role, his agonizing separation from family and homeland, the dangerous decision to make his newfound faith public, and his belief that the Christian mandate to “love your enemies” is the only way to peace in the Middle East.

The Making of a Terrorist Book Description :

Global terrorism has become a frightening reality. From New York City and Washington, D.C., to Bali, Moscow, and Madrid, ordinary citizens throughout the civilized world live with increasing fear of a deadly attack from unknown individuals, for reasons many of us cannot fathom. National and international security forces are on constant alert, desperate to prevent the next catastrophe, and yet many observers agree that our military and intelligence services are spread too thin and face insurmountable hurdles in the global war on terrorism. The situation calls for greater engagement with the public, as the necessary eyes and ears of the global anti-terrorism coalition. However, to be effective the public must be equipped with the knowledge of how, why, and where an individual becomes a terrorist. This is the primary goal of this set, which seeks to answer one central question: What do we currently know about the transformation through which an individual becomes a terrorist? Overall, we have learned that the transformation through which an individual becomes a terrorist involves a variety of complex and intertwined issues. A single contributing factor--such as personal religious conviction, widespread poverty, or an oppressive government--may not necessarily lead to the formation of terrorist organizations. However, the current body of research on terrorism suggests that a combination of factors will, in most cases, result in some form of terrorism. This combination differs widely by region, and at minimum involves motivations, opportunities, contexts, processes, personal disposition, and preparation. Volume I deals with recruitment means and methods, and includes discussions of psychological, social, ideological, and religious dimensions of recruitment. Volume II addresses the training of terrorists, including teaching tools and training manuals, and it includes fascinating case studies from Al Qaeda, Hezbollah, Aum Shinrikyo, Christian militias, and other groups. The Israeli Palestinian Conflict Book Description :

We should not argue about who is to blame [for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict]. There is enough guilt on both sides. / Uri Avneri Smoldering since the late 1920s, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict reached its first climax immediately after the State of Israel was founded on May 15, 1948. Devised by European nations as the "perfect solution", the new state received a large number of displaced Jews who were unwelcome in their countries of origin. We can only answer a few of the myriad yet unasked questions. What we know for sure is that more than 750,000 Palestinians were expelled or escaped from Israel/Palestine after 1948. About 470,000 of them fled to refugee camps in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Egypt. The rest scattered all over the world. Deprived of citizenship and human rights, Palestinians have remained refugees in most of the Arab world until this day. Why? By 2013, more than 150 settlements and towns populated by more than half a million Jews had been built on confiscated land on the West Bank. Even moderate Palestinian leaders consider these confiscations a provocation. Israel is increasingly turning into an apartheid state and its political standing is constantly deteriorating. The Israeli intellectual elite has always raised its voice against the occupation and the settlements, arguing that human rights and equality--two pillars of Zionism--are being violated. Time has come for the voice of reason, which calls for a two-state solution, to be heard.
