Raising Men Book Description :

After Eric Davis spent over 16 years in the military, including a decade in the SEAL Teams, his family was more than used to his absence on deployments and secret missions that could obscure his whereabouts for months at a time. Without a father figure in his own life since the age of fifteen, Eric was desperate to maintain the bonds he’d fought so hard to forge when his children were young—particularly with his son, Jason, because he knew how difficult it was to face the challenge of becoming a man on one’s own. Unfortunately, Eric learned the hard way that Quality Time doesn’t always show up in Quantity Time. Facebook, television, phones, video games, school, jobs, friends—they all got in the way of a real, meaningful father-son relationship. It was time to take action. As a SEAL, Eric learned to innovate and push boundaries, allowing him to function at levels beyond what was expected, comfortable, ordinary, and even imaginable, and he knew that as a father he needed to do the same with his son. Meeting extreme with extreme was the only answer. Using a unique blend of discipline, leadership, adventure, and grace, Eric and his SEAL brothers will teach you how to connect, and reconnect, with your sons and learn how to raise real men—the Navy SEAL way.

Raising Men Not Boys Book Description :

How to raise a godly man in a godless world Perhaps there has never been a more challenging time to raise children than in today’s culture. Parents are having to address challenges that their parents never had to with them. And while the core elements to raising children are the same, parents need wisdom for applying them to this day and age. That’s what this book is about: navigating the times and raising a generation of men on godly principles—sons who are ready, able, and motivated to represent God during their days of sojourning on this earth. Pastor and author Mike Fabarez will help parents pass the faith on to their sons, in prayer that the promises of God extend to the third and fourth generations… and beyond. Parents will be equipped to: Envision their son’s future every day Set his spiritual trajectory Build a home that grows godly men Address the rebellion in their son’s heart Prepare him to face the world and contribute to it Help their son toward a right view of play and leisure Navigate the teenage years There is an epidemic of grown men with the maturity of young boys. Be a parent who saves your child from prolonged adolescence. Scripture says, “The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him” (Prov. 23:24). Strong Women Fed Up Men Defeated Sons Broken Daughters Book Description :

HEALING GENERATIONAL PAIN THROUGH UNDERSTANDING. FORGIVENESS. PURPOSE. SELF-CARE. SELF-LOVE. SACRIFICIAL LOVE. As the saying goes, those who don’t know history are destined to repeat it. In Strong Women, Fed-Up Men, Defeated Sons, Broken Daughters, Mark Momplaisir calls for rebuilding a culture that was founded on racial disparity, brokenness, detrimental patterns inherited from slavery, and generational hurt. Mark’s plea for mental, spiritual, and physical healing arises from the fundamental understanding that people of African descent have endured a painful past. A past that has defined who we are, how we are, and where we are. In order to be the people we were intended to be, and to live the purposeful, peaceful, and meaningful life we were created to live, we must understand our history, the lessons our parents taught us, and how our past influences our behavior and relationships. Our communities are being torn apart by dysfunctional, unhealthy, and unproductive ways of interacting with one another. Mark explains how understanding, self-love, self-care, purpose, forgiveness, grace, and sacrificial love can create a life that is peaceful and purpose-filled. In his book, Mark shows us how to embark on the journey of healing, learning, and unlearning generational patterns so we can live a life of peace, happiness, and prosperity.

Fund Raising in the United States Book Description :

Fund raising in the United States is big business. Some 350,000 nonprofit organizations employ an army of fund raisers, all competing for their share, employing the latest technology in computerized direct mail and telemarketing. The American public is swamped with appeals on behalf of this cause or that, as ever more ambitious financial goals are set. Equally intense are demands on active citizens to staff fund-raising drives; a 1987 survey found that 48 percent of Americans engage in some sort of volunteer work. Popular philanthropy, financed by organized, high-pressure fund raising, is uniquely American. This classic history of fund raising in the United States, first published in 1965, has been out of print for the last twenty-two years despite continuing demand. It covers the role of fund raising from the seventeenth century to the present, with emphasis on mass secular fund raising in the twentieth century (religious fund raising is excluded). It documents techniques and problems that are central to the profession today, as well as events and persons on the cutting edge. As both Cutlip and Schwartz indicate in this new edition, since 1964 the climate for philanthropy has been conditioned by two factors-public policies and public perception. Reduction in federal grants to charities and changes in tax policies have increased the gap between needs and resources. Public perception is also a problem, as the result of rampant scandals. Competition for the philanthropic dollar is keener than ever; but the picture is not all gloomy. Schwartz outlines nine positive trends. Among them is increasing interest in philanthropic studies in many areas of academia, including history, sociology, economics, public policy, behavioral sciences, social work, and American studies. There is also increasing interest overseas, as American approaches to fund raising become an example for other nations.
