This volume takes the reader into the lives of five different Mexican families for one entire day, so that the reader can see how it is that they live their lives. The families are both rural and urban and represent a cross-section of Mexico at the time that this book was written. All but one of the families portrayed are poor, yet they all share some similar characteristics. Written during the nineteen fifties, this book is, for the most part, a look at a culture of poverty. It is also a look at a culture that is in transition, shifting from rural to urban with its often resulting poverty and pathology. Yet, it is also a culture into which, North American material comforts and influence were making inroads.
Concerns the descendants of Edward Bliven (1674-1718), Simeon Crandall (1724-1800), Robert Taylor (1620-1688) and members of the Macomber and Money families who settled in the area of Charlestown, Rhode Island and inter-married. Descendants live in Rhode Island, New York and other states.

Excerpt from Frost Genealogy in Five Families A multitude of our mental and physical peculiarities, as well as our traditional attitudes, are inherited. These characteristics have been living and active in our line of ancestors for centuries. We ourselves are to a large degree a blending, a composite of our ancestors. They in turn were much like us. This book may chronicle only a name, a birth, a marriage, or a death of a remote relative. But that person was a witness if not an actor in great historic scenes, and we must picture him as a person similar to our brothers and sisters and ourselves; quite as much alive and pulsating with all human feelings. When the author found records of his own ancestors, it was to him like finding friends. The material in this book has been collected by him as a labor of love during the past fifteen years. His recompense is the satisfaction that here he enjoys the privilege of introducing to living Frosts their forgotten friends whom they resemble; kinsmen whom they Should honor. It was supposed to be business. Two families, one wedding, zero emotion. My father's mafia outfit had saved my life.I owed them everything. An arranged marriage was hardly a sacrifice when I would have already been long dead had it not been for them.I would give up my independence for the Lucciano Family.I would bind myself to the man whose family tore my life to pieces.Matteo De Luca was vicious claws sheathed in refinement and class. He saw my untamed independence as a challenge.I saw his alluring authority as a threat. There was a ruthless storm that raged in his oceanic gaze. A majestic tidal wave of temper and domination looking to break on my rocky shores. He would annihilate me.Rip open my layers until all my pretty secrets were scattered at his feet. The worst part? I wanted to experience whatever it was Matteo had to offer, and I hated myself for it.I wanted to launch myself at him.To kiss him. To kill him.To end the debilitating torture of the unknown. The moment our paths collided, our lives were altered irrevocably.Taking us from enemies allied by a strategic marriage to something dark and consuming.Something that tasted like obsession.
The portion of the Malay Peninsula where the Thai Buddhist civilization of Thailand gives way to the Malay Muslim civilization of Malaysia is characterized by multiple forms of pluralism. This book examines a broad range of issues relating to the turmoil afflicting the region.
Volume "B" lists the descendants and relatives of five apparently unrelated Wilson immigrants who settled in Hartford County, Connecticut, as follows: (1) Robert Wilson (d.1655) moved from Windsor to Farmington; (2) David Wilson (ca.1736-1811) died at Enfield; (3) Phineas Wilson (d.1692) was a wealthy merchant in Hartford; (4) Archibald Wilson (d.1774) moved from Farmington to Middletown about 1763;; (5) Michael Wilson was in Simsbury by 1749. These five families are listed separately, but with common indexes. "One should not assume that all persons named Wilson who resided in Hartford county and whose ancestry can be traced to a colonial immigant of that name are listed herein"--P. viii-ix.
Five family's lives come together at different times to lay the foundations for a developing Northwest from the mid-I800's to 1906. Many and varied are their experiences. Unique, but not unlike so many Pioneers who's efforts have gone unreported. Only unique in this sense. Records remain of these five families and the activities they were involved in that resulted in portions of the Northwest being what they are today.
