Eastern Body Western Mind Book Description :

Revised edition of the groundbreaking New Age book that seamlessly merges Western psychology and science with spirituality, creating a compelling interpretation of the Eastern chakra system and its relevance for Westerners today. In Eastern Body, Western Mind, chakra authority Anodea Judith brought a fresh approach to the yoga-based Eastern chakra system, adapting it to the Western framework of Jungian psychology, somatic therapy, childhood developmental theory, and metaphysics and applying the chakra system to important modern social realities and issues such as addiction, codependence, family dynamics, sexuality, and personal empowerment. Arranged schematically, the book uses the inherent structure of the chakra system as a map upon which to chart our Western understanding of individual development. Each chapter focuses on a single chakra, starting with a description of its characteristics and then exploring its particular childhood developmental patterns, traumas and abuses, and how to heal and maintain balance.

The Global Heart Awakens Book Description :

Positing that modern society is an adolescent culture, driven by greed and power and lying on the cusp of an era of spiritual growth and shifting values, this book explores mythic themes in various historical eras to explain the past, present, and future of the human experience. It suggests that the world is facing a rite of passage into adulthood and that a time of cooperation, stabilization, and sharing is approaching. With an original theory of history based on developmental psychology, including an analysis of masculine and feminine archetypes, this thoughtful guide weaves the narratives of human history and individuals' experiences into a path of enlightenment and a way to catalyze social change.

Waking the Global Heart Book Description :

Will we survive into the next age? If so, what will it look like and what will it take for us to get there? For the first time since the planet cooled 5 billion years ago, humanity is capable of influencing-for better or worse-the trajectory of evolution. This requires a tremendous responsibility and maturity of the heart. Only through a rite of passage will humanity shift from the love of power to the power of love. No mere sentimentality, this initiation is an urgent and wrenching shift that will uproot and transform every aspect of human civilization. This paradigm saves energy, reduces disease, is ecologically sustainable, and spiritually uplifting. It focuses on networks rather than markets, favours cooperation over competition, sustainability over exploitation, co-creation of our future over procreation.

Inspired by Anodea Judith's work, Chakra's for Kids is the perfect resource for anyone wanting to teach the chakras, chakra healing, chakra dance, chakra yoga, meditation, breathwork and mindfulness to children. Featuring stories with the Rainbow Children® chakra characters, it offers the gateway for the next generation to discover the magic of the Rainbow Bridge. It is a treasure chest of stories, information and ideas that we can use to help our children access deeper levels of understanding of themselves, others and the greater community. Using simple and accessible language, Landa guides the reader through a series of 'journeys', each one representing the major issues around each of the seven main chakras (utilizing seven characters that embody the qualities of the chakras). The illustrations are simple, drawn in a soft childlike way, and therefore quickly accessed and understood by children. The style and content of the book also lends itself well to use in the therapeutic setting, both for children and for inner child healing. The songs are beautifully sung, using real instruments; instantly catchy, they are unpretentious and positive in language and content (the song words are included in the book, the music is available to purchase separately). The little yoga stick men drawings within the stories are a fun way to guide and encourage movement and there are guidelines and ideas of how to bring the story to life with chakra dance on each page of the story. You can download further free guides to movement at www.chakrasforkids.com after purchasing the book. "This book, the Rainbow Children® program, helps to teach our little ones to develop and own their own sense of belonging, of feeling, of personal power, of love, of voice, of intuition and of connection to source, and that the answers to our problems and questions often lie within our own ability to resolve. The message is clear that if we are inclusive in all aspects of ourselves and others, we can journ

The Body Book Description :

This book explores mind-body philosophy from an Asian perspective. It sheds new light on a problem central in modern Western thought. Yuasa shows that Eastern philosophy has generally formulated its view of mind-body unity as an achievement a state to be acquired--rather than as essential or innate. Depending on the individual's own developmental state, the mind-body connection can vary from near dissociation to almost perfect integration. Whereas Western mind-body theories have typically asked what the mind-body is, Yuasa asks how the mind-body relation varies on a spectrum from the psychotic to the yogi, from the debilitated to the athletic, from the awkward novice to the master musician. Yuasa first examines various Asian texts dealing with Buddhist meditation, kundalini yoga, acupuncture, ethics, and epistemology, developing a concept of the "dark consciousness" (not identical with the psychoanalytic unconscious) as a vehicle for explaining their basic view. He shows that the mind-body image found in those texts has a striking correlation to themes in contemporary French phenomenology, Jungian psychoanalysis, psychomatic medicine, and neurophysiology. The book clears the ground for a provocative meeting between East and West, establishing a philosophical region on which science and religion can be mutually illuminating.
